Costa Rica 2010

In February 2010 board president, Rick Collins, traveled to San Jose, Costa Rica to conduct two important projects:

Project #1: Rick Collins met with the leadership of the Baptist Convention to speak with leadership about his youth camp vision. The leadership was excited about the resources Press On Missions has to offer and has invited Rick to bring a team to help them conduct a youth camp in January of 2011.

Project #2: Rick Collins worked with the leadership of Iglesia La Biblia Dice to grow and strengthen their camp. He worked bi-vocational youth pastors, Jeffery & David. They decided to step outside their comfort zone and invited non-believers to come to camp. They had incorporated small family groups and other elements into their camp program that Rick Collins had suggested to them back in 2007. They had 73 students attend camp: 35 were their active students and 38 were non-believers that their friends invited to camp. Press On Missions provided scholarships to allow these non-believers to come for free! They had 21 adults involved in giving leadership to the camp. David had developed some solid camp materials. The camp theme was Building our lives in Freedom. What an incredible truth to study with so many non-believers involved. POM team members, Rick Collins & Scott Green, role at camp was to encourage, mingle and minister to students and, on the last day of camp, conduct "The Evangelism Game". The game clearly spelled out the gospel to the non-believers and trained the Christian students in how simple it is to share their faith. 15 students gave their heart to the Lord! Please pray for David & Jeffery as they follow-up on these students and continue to reach out to the other non-believers who came to camp.
